Casey Jayne Roger
Casey Jayne Roger is a touring musician and vocalist, based in France. Her education pursuits brought her to France in 2007 to study at the conservatory in Paris after completing her degree at NYU. She has been an active performer in France and the United States at Disneyland Paris, Le Cabaret Sancerrois, a repeated performing artist at the Cannes Film Festival, and touring extensively with the duo La Méchante et le Connard. She has had the honor to be a member of the Claude Abadie tentette before his passing as well as a slew of other jazz combos and big bands.
Casey is an instrumentalist (saxophone, double bass, ukulele). Vocal lessons are taught using the voice as an instrument, an integral part of the horn section. Lessons will focus on vocal development and control, exercises for warming up, technique and agility: breathing, voice placement, chest/mixed/head voice. They will also focus on interpretation and musicality, improvisation and voice quality, equipment (how to use a microphone and stage equipment), as well as stage presence (what the heck do I do with my hands while I’m on stage?! for example)
